Things I Read This Week

What is even happening? I’m writing three weeks in a row? And I know I can’t ~really~ claim this as writing because I’m hardly writing. There is this little blurb and then a bunch of links, but considering how little I’ve written lately, this is a lot, and I intend to do more, so this is like wading into the pool and adjusting to the temperature of the water before I delve into the deep end.

ANYway…

On the Shelf

I started reading Lair of Dreams because I haven’t had time to go to Chapters and use my birthday points on the new Tana French and LOD has been in my to-read pile for ages now, plus, it’s almost Halloween and it seems seasonally appropriate.

It’ll probably be my On the Shelf read for a few weeks because I only get time to read on my lunch break, but I also just bought The Mermaid & Mrs. Handcock and have been looking forward to reading it for months since it was splashed all over my friend’s FB page and I *really, really* want to get to it.

On the Web

I was really bad at keeping track of my reading this week because this week has been ridiculously bonkers; I had a bunch of projects to work on, I had to investigate why the IT was screwed up for a meeting and why it took them a week and a half to figure out what happened (hint, it was their fault and they didn’t want to admit it), and I had to kick more IT ass when it took them 3 days to fix my computer, which left me with less reading time than usual. BUT… this is what I managed to read this week:

It’s still Libra season and also BEYONCE, but also romance and love and junk

But if I know anything to be true, it is that the perfection of fairytales is a grandiose illusion, which is why we love them so. Little girls are taught to long for the fairytale love stories of princesses far more than the bittersweet kind that grow us into goddesses.

I saw A Star is Born last weekend and I loved it and I love Gaga even more than before, which is A LOT

Also this, which is just TOO ACCURATE, especially with that CDAN shout out

I LOOOOOVE The Good Place, and last night’s episode was Very Good, but yes, this

The majority of my reading time this week was spent reading the only thing I actively seek out on Jezebel anymore–ALL THE SPOOPY STORIES

There is no Queens of Infamy entry this week, and I am sad because it’s THE BEST, but I’ll console myself by rewatching yesterday’s The Good Place episode again because it was AMAZING.

Anyway, until next week!
